A small family buisness operating from rural premisis to enable us to offer very competative rates, whilst still maintaining a high quality service to our customers .
Skilled and qualified personel with many years experience,
I studied Motor Vehicle technology at Colchester Institute, served apprenticeship and worked in the local VW /Audi dealership for several years, as well as local Vauxhall dealers other general garages including motor race tuning specialist , before setting up Rayne Auto Cinic in 2011.
Dad,( see main page), who I share the workshop with , gives me a hand and acts as tea boy when necessary ( and gives me his advise, like most dads, even when its not wanted)
He previosly owned a successful ex franchise, high street Mot /service centre and car sales garage in the south of the county for 20 years before a heart attack perswaded him to sell up and 'semi retire' (lol, that was never going to happen) in 2004 . Before that he worked in most aspects of the trade and was workshop foreman for what is now one of the largest insurance approved bodyshops in mid essex before starting on his own buisiness, so has plenty of experience that I can draw from,
We have both qualified as Mot testers (dad was also authorised examiner at his garage for 20 years)
Both (along with my brother who currently works as an Mot tester for a major national company) are VW enthusiasts and have owned (and modified ) many during our motoring life. (We are currently restoring/modifying one of only 93 Vento Vr6s left in the Uk ) and are always ready to talk to anyone who will listen about them, as well as loving working on them, especially the older ones, restoring (and/or modifying) them to their former glory ,be it a minor scratch, major welding, or mechanical repairs or mods.

We are able to keep our prices very competative due to our low overheads, and knowledge of sourcing good quality parts at the best prices.
WHAT WE DO
We do routeen SERVICING & general repairs to most modern cars, Brakes, suspension, cam belts, clutches, exhausts, if it ever needs replacing, we can probably do it.
We also do accident repairs, (large and small) repairs, dents, scratches to paint , bumpers etc rectified using the latest HS two pack paint materials. Anything from a small scratch to a full body restoration and paint.
We also carry out modifications and upgrades to brakes and suspension, supply and fit larger brakes, vented discs, lowering, sound systems etc. (You can supply parts, or we can aquire them for you, but we sugest you always speak to us re suitability BEFORE any purchace of parts to try to find the best option for YOU .)

Fit and set up lowering springs, coilovers etc. Stainless Steel, BIG BORE Exhausts
and of course give our oppinion/advice BEFORE purchace

Mot 's
Although both myself and Dad are qualified Mot testers , we dont actually do tests at the moment in our workshop,
BUT we CAN arrange them for you, take them to the test station, attend to any failure items ( after speaking to you, the customer of course ) and return them for retest as necessary. At the moment we only make a minimal, token charge for this 'service'
Relief/stand in MOT testing.
Freelance Mot Cover.
I do also do the occational day/week, freelance, helping out/relief/covering holidays, sickness, staff shortages etc at a couple of local garages for friends we know, an may extend this service in the future (please enquire).
Diagnostics.
We now have the latest Vag Com (Dealer level)
code reader/scanner for Vw's .
And basic programmes for some other 'common' makes.
to scan for codes in engine management, air bags and abs systems and to turn out the 'fault light' on the dash once the fault has been rectified.
Charge for 'scan and read fault codes ONLY' will be £15.00.
Any diagnostic work after that will be extra.
In this area, we liken ourselves to your local doctor, where in the 1st instance you go to your G.P. who checks the symptoms and can either offer a cure in the more basic problems, or refere you to the hospital specilist consultant for the more complex issues.
We have contacts who we can suggest if we feel you need a specialist auto electrician.
And for your peice of mind,
although we are in a small 'farm estate' we can confirm
there is exellent security, with automatic gates to the site operating out of hours, CCTV cameras and Alarms scanning 24 hrs, and we have Fully Comprehensive insurance cover on all vehicles whilst in our custody,
( a point always worth checking !! )
WE DO NOT ship any work out,
(exept perhaps skimming a head we have removed ) then adding a mark up on the price we might be charged,
ALL WORK WE UNDERTAKE, IS CARRIED OUT IN HOUSE
WE DO NOT SUBCONTRACT OUT LIKE SOME SO CALLED EXPERTS .

If it is a job we dont do, we can quite likley reccomend another trusted tradesman to do a good job for you at a sensible price.
While we will always bring attention to any potential problems, and/or work we see on your vehicle, we do not 'sell up' unnecessarily, and will always give an honest oppinion as to the urgency (or not as the case may be) of the point in question.........
ie if it will last a bit longer we will always say so, but give you oppotunity to 'get it done while we already have the car, if you wish
LOCKING WHEEL NUT REMOVAL
We can remove locking wheel nuts, without damage to the wheel (inc most Alloy wheels) when keys are misplaced/lost.
Note... This WILL ruin the offending NUT , but no other damage usually results .
so you will need replacement wheel nuts.
We usually charge ;-
Typically around £10 per nut for car brought to us.
(first nut £15 as disposable master former blade reqd, then £10 per extra nut, or £40 for set of four nuts.)
We can also often remove BROKEN SPARK PLUGS, ...
quite a common feature of earlier 1.3 Fiesta and Ka Endura (old push rod) engine
, (tops of plug corrode and break when trying to remove them )
