Braintree Small car shop is a small family buisiness, set up in 2004 following 20 years owning and operating a successful high profile, ex-franchise garage in the south of Essex, which housed our Mot station, and car servicing and general repair workshop where we served a wide range of both private, company, fleet  and trade customers as well as a small car sales site. This venture was disposed of primaraly due to health reasons,
(I had a minor heart attack) and the ever increasing overheads.
It was recomended that I needed to slow down and move over into the slow lane, so in 2004 when the lease was due for renewal , it was decided to sell up and move to small less stressfull operation near home.

the impressive frontage, the highly visible and HIGHLY EXPENSIVE site

Now I have a peasefull rural  setting just outside Braintree on an
industrial site utalising redundant agricultural buildings,
(ok a farm yard) where the overheads are a fraction of my previous site.


We are in a village just off the A120 (about 2 miles west of Braintree Freeport Shopping Village) approximatly 20 Minutes east of M11 Stansted, or west of A12 Colchester or Chelmsford.

Please always ring for appointment as I am not always on site, and when away, as the sales cars are usually stored inside, under cover they may not be visible when we out or closed .
There are also restrictions on entry to the site after 'normal working hours, and at weekends,  and you will need to be 'let in' thru the security gates, so it is essential that I know you are coming .                                                         .

A bit about Braintree Small Car Shop.

The Braintree Small Car Shop was set up in 2004 following the disposal of my former much larger and much more high profile Service Centre/Mot and Car Sales  garage in the south of the county, down near the Thames Bridge.
The disposal of that buisiness was brought about by various factors, including the ever increasing trafic and  extended time to travel, the increasing overheads, I was getting older,   and by no means least influence in my decision to sell up, had a minor heart attack, probably caused to some degree by the pressures of the above.

At that , former franchise workshop, we were a general garage doing  all types of servicing, repairs and Mot testing for a full range of customers including, general public, local buisineses,. fleet contracting  (including all the management cars during the construction of the Lakeside shopping centre) and local 'trade customers' along with car sales and preperation of our own and again other local trade customers cars.

I owned, operated and worked in the above garage for some 20 years, previous to that I worked my way through several motor trade jobs ending up as foreman/workshop manager of what is now possibly the biggest accident repair bodyshops in the county before 'starting on my own'
so I consider that I have a quite wide and comprehensive experience and knowledge of the motor trade.


Scince my 'semi-retirement I have now downgraded, Gone is the impressive ex-franchise high street workshop, (along with the stress and pressures) now I work , with the part time assistance of my two sons,
both qualified mechanics and current Mot testers, with main dealer
and specialist garage experience.
I now have a small 'shed 'on the local 'farm industrial estate' which not only is a fraction of the size, but also more importantly a fraction of the price of my previous site, thus allowing me to pass on the savings to you the customer . 
My eldest , has now got 'frustrated' working his **** off  for others for little reward and now joined me in my little workshop.
He is trading under the name of Rayne Auto Clinic.
He has extensive main dealer experience, predomanantly in Vw dealers, but also in the local Vauxhall dealership and some other 'general and specialist garages'

Warranty: On a car sold via ebay auctions we offer that should a car suffer a major mechanical failure within 45 days or 2000 miles (whichever the sooner) of the engine, drivetrain or gearbox we will repair, make a contribution to the repair or refund as appropriate.  It must be emphasised this covers mechanical failure of major components only and does not apply to wear and tear items (brakes, batteries, exhausts etc.) or any part which could reasonably be expected to have reached the end its working life at the age and mileage and should in no way be considered a substitute for a full warranty. Any cosmetic deficiencies are the responsibility of the buyer to check at time of collection and in no circumstances will any claims be considered for cosmetic deficiencies noticed after sale completion. There are many companies who will provide a comprehensive warranty direct at a very reasonable price and we recommend purchasing one if you require a full used car warranty.

We have owned  motor trade companys established for over 25 years which takes customer service seriously and wants to maintain our reputation not decrease it.

We check and test drive our cars carefully but please remember these are used cars and account should be made for fair wear and tear based on age and mileage. A description such as "in very good condition for age and mileage" means just that and it should be self evident that a 200,000 mile 6 year old car should be judged on different terms to that of a 2 year old one with 30,000 miles.

All cars should be considered "HPI clear" as far as Outstanding Finance, National Mileage Register and Insurance Total Loss are concerned unless specified otherwise. Any car we sell is owned outright by ourselves - unless specifically advised to the contary .


We specialise in SELLING small Fords .(other cars also sold)  We find they are cheap to run and maintain, parts are easily accessable and they are very popular with the younger driver, weather they are learning or have just passed their tests.  We also like to make each KA a bit special and make them individual to each new owner.  More details on this later.


We have adopted a completely no pressure, no hassle, no obligation viewing of our cars, you may walk away anytime without feeling awkward.  (However I would like to add please no timewasters.)

When our cars arrive we like to give them a bit of an health check.  We will ensure before they leave us that they will be mechanically sound, the bodywork gets revamped were necessary including  COLOUR CODING OF THE BUMPERS if reqd, and make sure the car is safe to drive.  At times we have to change brake discs and pads, change broken springs, wishbones, deal with corrosion etc. depending on the age and condition of the incoming cars , to bring them up to our required standards
 
As with all cars we sell it has just been fully checked over by ourselves, we carry out any work required to keep the engine, running gear and brakes etc in perfect condition - and to sort any problems or imminent problems, so you can be rest assured you wont be buying a car that requires any work doing on it. We can guarantee that everything works fine. We have just given this car a full check over, everything with the car was totally fine, as you would expect from such low mileage.
Mums and dads - on request we will be happy to put ANY of our cars on a jack, so not only do you see the bodywork and the engine, you can inspect the underside aswell.  We want you to buy with confidence knowing the WHOLE car is good.  In some cases we will even show you the cars that are awaiting preparation if they need work you will see whats needed, then show you again after any works have been done, this way YOU know what WE know.  Please note this is only possible if space and time permits.
Durig the weekday, if a ramp is available we are also happy to let you walk unde the car .
 
 
Also if you want to suprise your son/daughter, wife or girlfriend, make your gesture really count , for a small fee to cover our expences we can deliver the car at a specific time

We also like to acquire cars in on request, so if theres something your after, or we have just sold what you wanted then please leave us your details via phone or email, and we will endeavour to find what you want.  All we need to know is your prefered make and model, rough age ie 1997-1999, and an idea of specification ie power steering, electric windows etc and of cause your maximum budget, which we do aim to stay below, however I would like to take this opportunity to state that we will not be able to get you a 2003 ka collection with 9000 miles for £800, sorry!!!!  So please be realistic. 

We can also offer warranties from 6 months to 3 years at an extra charge, but prices normally start from around £92 inc a free service. 

Currently following payment methods accepted.

Cash, .  A minimum cash deposit of 10% will be required to secure any car for up to 1 week, and 20% for up to 2 weeks.  Only cleared funds will secure the release of the car.  All deposits are non refundable.  We do not encourage distance selling at all, we will only sell a car to you AFTER you have been to see us and you have satisfied yourself of its condition and road worthiness.
